About me
Exploring fundamental physics in the most extreme electromagnetic fields
I am a theoretical physicist exploring quantum electrodynamics at the limits of electromagnetic field strengths. My research asks how the behaviour of light and matter changes when electromagnetic fields become so intense that quantum effects are fundamentally nonlinear.
I lead a research programme in strong-field QED spanning nonlinear particle and photon interactions, vacuum polarisation, QED cascades and the search for new physics in extreme electromagnetic fields. My work combines quantum field theory with the development of predictions for experiments at high-intensity laser and particle-physics facilities.
I am particularly interested in questions where fundamental theory meets emerging experimental capability: using increasingly powerful sources of light to probe quantum electrodynamics in regimes that have previously been inaccessible in the laboratory.
